Mazda6 awarded What Car? 'Used Car of the Year 2007'

What Car? has named the Mazda6 its 'Used Car of the Year 2007'. Giving the ultimate stamp of approval to those owners who have already been seduced by its sporty styling, exhilarating dynamics and reassuring practicality.

In fact, the 2003 Mazda6 2-litre TS five-door hatchback won two awards. Best used 'Family Car' and overall best 'Used Car' in 2007 now join What Car? 'Used Car of the Year 2005' in the trophy cabinet.

Eight expert judges assessed 48 cars against a checklist of nine crucial qualities: performance, ride and handling; refinement; buying and owning; quality and reliability; safety and security; behind the wheel; space and practicality; and equipment.

Matt Sanger, What Car? Used Car Editor, said: "There were more votes cast for the Mazda6 than for all the other category winners put together. Its overall package of value for money, reliability, desirability and fine handling, proved too much for the competition."

Of its victory in the Family Car category, What Car? stated that the Mazda6: "…looks modern and fresh and is also very entertaining to drive."

James Hopkins, Mazda Fleet Director, added: "As a used-car, Mazda6 presents family car buyers with great practicality and value that is unrivalled. With modest whole-life costs, it is undoubtedly the most cost-effective choice in its segment."
