      Our commitment to weight-loss borders on the obsessive.  Weight reduction also comes through the materials used. New, high-strength, low-weight steel has been utilised where possible while in some cases, steel has even been replaced with lighter materials.

      Everything from the cabin wind-control to the placement of the sports seats has been carefully developed with one objective in mind: total driving pleasure.

      The rear-wheel drive chassis layout guarantees 50/50 weight distribution for outstanding balance and agility.

      Despite the improvements to performance and comfort, the model you can buy today is only 10kg heavier than the previous Mazda MX-5. As almost all other cars get fatter, bigger and bulkier, the Mazda MX-5 has kept its trim figure.
