The challenge

Lighter, faster, more fuel-efficient and more fun to drive - the all-new Mazda2 broke the supermini mould for a new generation of drivers.

And it delivers all the lifestyle demands too, with its stylish aerodynamic design, impressive range of standard equipment and comprehensive safety.

Book your test drive for all the evidence you need.

But can it be cleaner, cheaper and faster than a jet on short journeys? Mazda set Colin Goodwin from Autocar and Tom Hall from Lonely Planet the challenge to get from Trafalgar Square to Manchester Piccadilly.

The driver

Tom, in the all-new Mazda2, not only thought he'd be faster, "I'd be quids-in and have a cleaner conscience as well."

The passenger

Petrolhead Colin felt that the motorway journey was "blissfully simple" but, once in the air at 400mph, "I may have a chance."

The result

Tom in the all-new Mazda2 was having lunch at Piccadilly Station as Colin rolled in half-an-hour behind.

The all-new Mazda2 is faster, cleaner, cheaper - and heaps more fun. Take it for a test drive to see for yourself.
