The power and torque to do this come from the 2.5- or 3.0-litre direct-injection common-rail turbo diesel engines. With 330 Nm of torque (the 3.0-litre has 380 Nm), it can tow up to a hefty 3000 kg. Even with all this pulling power, the sporty soul shines out, thanks to a 0-62mph acceleration time of just 10.4 seconds (4x2 Single Cab). Not what you normally expect of a commercial vehicle...

Economy - and enjoyment

And for all its power, the Mazda BT-50 is remarkably economical, returning up to 39.7 mpg (4x2 Single Cab) on the Extra Urban cycle, whilst meeting the latest EC Stage IV emissions regulations. That's helped by the optimised transmissions. Both the 5-speed manual and the electronically controlled close-ratio 5-speed automatic add to the sheer driving enjoyment.

Go anywhere

For demanding off-road conditions, a low ratio transfer box or switch (with 3.0 MZR engine) provides maximum traction and tough, no-limits 4-wheel drive capability. The Remote Free Wheel hub system (RFW) automatically engages on 4x4 selection and allows on-the-move shifts between 2WD and 4WD for maximum traction and control without any downtime.

And that means it's a breeze to drive in sand, snow and mud or to use the huge torque to haul loads up steep gradients.
