Top-down ease

Totally hassle-free top-down driving

Our new Z-folding soft top comes in cloth and vinyl. It can be closed, latched and opened with minimum effort, thanks to our weight saving design and an easy-to-use single central lock. This lightness adds to the overall sense of oneness you feel with this car: the smooth opening and closing action quite almost natural.

For a more coupe-like appearance, there's also our detachable hard top. Available as an accessory from your local Mazda dealer, this is intuitively integrated into the car's contours. It benefits from each side lock having a safety lever, so the hooks can't operate until you decide to use them.

User-oriented spaces

Intuitive, intelligent spacing throughout

Sometimes, you want to judge reach out and grab something. No hassle, no awkward stretching and no distractions. With our user-oriented spacing, that's precisely what you can do.

We researched what objects sports car drivers carry most: and designed the Mazda MX-5 accordingly. Right throughout the car - dashboard, trim through to the lockable glove box - everything has been intuitively positioned and sized. While the boot, containing a puncture repair kit rather than a cumbersome spare wheel, has an impressive capacity of 150 litres of room.

Your driving position is crucial to how you interact with your car. Get it wrong and driving can be painful; get it right, like we have, then driving becomes more than a pleasure. How you sit in a Mazda MX-5 will feel natural; how you drive will come naturally, too.

Operating the steering wheel, gears and pedals will all come instinctively to you. And heel-and-toe driving, with easy pedal to pedal movement, couldn't be easier. Especially now that not only can you adjust the driving position to suit you. And with more cabin space, you've increased room to manoeuvre. Sat in your Mazda MX-5, it feels like every movement, every action, is an extension of something you yourself would do.
