Should I consider a diesel or petrol engine Mazda vehicle?
If you regularly use a vehicle to travel short distances, in heavy traffic or at low speeds a petrol engine may be the better choice for you. Although diesel engines are more fuel efficient than their petrol equivalent, the higher costs of a diesel vehicle and diesel fuel mean that you would need to cover large mileages to recoup the additional costs. In addition, in order for the emission equipment fitted to a diesel engine to operate correctly, the exhaust system needs to operate at high temperatures. Short distances and low speeds will not enable the required temperature to be reached. Under these conditions the emission system may fail to operate and require intervention by a Mazda dealer to reset the system, causing inconvenience to you.
