Sustainable Zoom-Zoom
The Mazda3 has impressive environmental credentials. But what actually makes a car green?
Smart idling
Our advance i-stop technology is a smart idling stop system with a difference. Unlike other competitior systems, it uses the uncombusted gas in the cylinders to prime for a quick restart.
Too technical? Think of it being similar to using an energy efficient light bulb - all the benefits but without the initial flicker or warm-up time. It takes just 0.35 seconds to operate - twice as quick as the nearest competition, meaning you won't be left stranded at the lights.
With fuel economy improvements of up to 16% and a lightning-quick restart, it's the ultimate definition of Sustainable Zoom-Zoom.
Lightweight materials
The wider use of ultra-strong high-tensile steel also enables us to reduce the weight of the Mazda3. This means the engine doesn't need to work so hard to propel the car forward - resulting in less fuel being used and it's safer too. Not only do these lightweight materials help to achieve better fuel economy, but class-leading aerodynamics do too.
This all contributes to fuel economy of up to 64.2mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 117g/km - which means an annual Road Fund License of just £35 per year.
In fact, all of our engines (excluding MPS) with manual transmission are below 160g/km - which is great news for you and your wallet, as well as the environment.
